a few blocks from Making A Lather

One of last year's rainbow scrap challenge project needs 12 more blocks.  I am trying to make one every morning before the day starts. I think I have 4 more to go. I received mystery fat quarters from missourri star quilt last month. And I decided that I would use those to finish what I need. Then, I don't have to put them away. Everything is cut and ready to sew.

It was 62 degrees yesterday. weird. It was very foggy and humid. Funny weather for January. I am sure we will appreciate the moisture this summer ...

boho heart finish and one monthly goal from Making A Lather

My boho heart quilt is finished in time for my one monthly goal for December 2022. I really like it, and I am glad to mark this off the list. Hidden in this quilt are a few vintage blocks, my orphan blocks that remind me of quilts past, and scraps from other quilters I admire.

72 x 74

12 yards of fabric

I used the top fabric in my backing pile. since it was colorful, and, I used the same fabrics as the background to bind it. I free formed swirls on the long arm for quilting. And thanks to ...

tiny bit of sewing from Making A Lather

This is it for the week. I had parts cut for more cross and crown blocks, that I have been working on this year as part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I spent a few minutes at the sewing machine, and made these two blocks.

Peppermint Chocolate Delight  - super yummy and easy with no baking, so it doesn't take oven space.

Ingredients

  • vanilla wafers (about 2.5 cups)
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 - 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 2 TB milk
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 - 12 oz tub Cool ...

crown blocks from Making A Lather

I have a few more cross and crown blocks to make to finish my goal for a quilt. I will still make them in 2023 for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I did make a few black blocks for November. And, hopefully will do brown in December.

At the end of the month, I want to look at my progress for PHD 22. I am thankful I have finished so many ufos this year. My problem, each year, is finishing any new projects I start for the year. There is a slight chance I may finish 2 more ...

frolic finish from Making A Lather

I have finished my one monthly goal for November. I finished frolic quiltville mystery quilt from 2019. I kept current on the clues until it was time to assemble the blocks. That seems to be my undoing. I take longer to do that, I guess. I really like the colors and pattern of the blocks. This will be my 19th finished quiltville mystery quilt. I have a page here that shows them from the first to the last that I have done. I still have rhododendron to quilt and grassy creek to add borders.

I used a flannel back and ...

One monthly goal frolic from Making A Lather

I left frolic as a top in 2020. It required a border decision. I want to finish it for my November one monthly goal. Especially if, I want to make the new quiltville mystery, Chilhowie. I have all 18 of them made until this one, and grassy creek as a top, and rhododendron almost a top. I have a page at the top of the blog with pictures in order. I am not going to add another border. It is time to move it along.

I was gifted 2 big bags of scraps from someone who has not been converted ...

5 quilts October 31, 2022 from Making A Lather

And just like that- October is over. My goodness, it was fast. I have had a swollen sore thumb and have not felt like sewing for a week. It will be 3 weeks before the hand doctor can see me. That gives me a time line. One or two days before the appointment, it will be miraculously cured. haha

last report 5 quilts October 17 , 2022

I try to work on these 5 quilts until they are done. Their turn in the UFO closet is over, and, they need to be finished one way or another.

1. rhododendren mystery - Bonnie ...

blue ridge beauty finish from Making A Lather

blue ridge beauty is finally a completed quilt. I have tried all year to make this a priority in finishing this huge quilt. It took several days to free motion swirls on my longarm. Binding was delayed because my trusty older bernina that I use for binding, stopped working, and, hubby had to spend a couple of days to uncover the problem. I knew he could do it, and, he did. I made blue ridge beauty my one monthly goal for October...again. And this is my 12th ufo finish for PHD 2022.

98x107

27 yards

It has some great ...

one monthly goal October from Making A Lather

I am going to try making blue ridge beauty quilt my one monthly goal again for October. I really would like to see it done by the end of this year, and October would be better. This a quiltville pattern in her book adventures with leaders and enders. I made mine with shirt fabrics included.

I need to make a monster back and decide on binding. Surely, I can finish it this month. Most of the garden is willing to wait for me to get to it.

However, we do have a new adventure. We found this little bitty shivering ...

finally a finish from Making A Lather

I finished the binding on my EPP diamond quilt. And I can call it finished. It has been a few months since I have had a finish. Meanwhile, I haven't stopped sewing, and, the tops are still piling up in the closet. I need to move a long.

This was my very first English Paper Piecing. I started ( 2009)  with this quilt I needed a hand project for an airplane trip to Utah to see my daughter. I was sure I didn't want to do hexagons ( what did I know?) And this seemed simple enough to be a ...

One monthly goal for August from Making A Lather

I didn't finish last month's One monthly goal at Elm street quilts. But, never give up - right?  I had the   last quilt a goal for 2 months and still did not finish. I will try a different Ufo that needs finishing, in hopes, I will find renewed motivation to chug along on the finishing. I need to add borders and quilt it.

in the box

This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern from her book scraps and shirttails. It is made mostly from shirt fabrics. My notes are sketchy. I think I started this in 2015 or 2016

tiger, tiger finish from Making A Lather

At the very last minute, I have finished my one monthly goal for June. So glad to have a finish. I plan to donate this to a local shelter for hands to help.

My friend Linda brought a scrap bag to me.... I had found the tiger embroidery at a thrift store...I decided whatever I pulled out of the scrap bag, I would add to the quilt improv style. It has been fun. Some colors, I would not have put together on purpose. But, I like them together here. I think I saw a video on you tube by ...

goal: finish tiger quilt from Making A Lather

My one monthly goal for June is to finish tiger, tiger. Every good quilt story starts with "I had a bag of scraps" And this is no exception. I had seen Beth's improv quilt on YouTube and had it swirling in my head, when another quilter gifted me a bag of scraps. I found the vintage tiger embroidery at a thrift store some time ago and wanted to do something with it. I made the goal to use only the bag of scraps and use it with the tiger. for a donation quilt.

It was always my intention to ...
